A Message from Our Administration
Dear Otto-Eldred Community,
Our last regular season varsity basketball game was on February 15 in the Terror Dome. Since that time, our boys and girls teams played 13 post season games across district and state competitions. Every step of the way, our community was there to support our players and students.
It was truly amazing to see the amount of support for our teams across the five double headers that took place over the past five weeks. We saw past graduates, past players, past coaches, and past parents of players come out to support our teams at our home double headers and trips to Clarion and DuBois. Parents from our opponents and past and present opposing coaches were following us as well. The entire four county area was rooting for our boys and girls teams as they advanced in the PIAA playoffs.
When there was a need, we had immediate support to fill it. Donations to help cover streaming costs, donations to help cover student ticket costs, and donations to help cover team expenses kept rolling in. We needed $400 to stream our PIAA quarterfinal games. Within a few hours, we had over $2,000 in donations to our sports boosters! That streaming saw over 750 fans watch the boys' victory over Erie First Christian while over 1000 fans watched a heartbreaking one-point loss to Berlin Brothers Valley. To top it off, our community organized a firetruck parade stopping traffic in Eldred twice!
The continued support for our students from our community was just amazing! Thank you to everyone that was with our teams along the way. Our players and coaches were focused on winning each game. At some point, they will truly understand the impact they have made on our community. These kids from a few little towns in McKean County have made a big impression across the region and state!
Terror pride is alive and well in 2023!
Sincerely,
Matthew Splain
